It's the middle of the night and I just couldn't sleep yet. One thing that keeps me entertained in the wee hours of the night/morning is browsing quotes. I'm a believer of living by other's wisdom. I am not saying though that you don't need to be wise on your own, but learning what other people, most especially those who have marked their footsteps onto this world, really helps a lot.

Such inspiring quotes keep me going. In fact, my vision board in my work area are filled with quotes that keeps me driven and motivated to reach my goals. I think it's very important for people to have phrases or words that they live by, so they won't get lost in the way. Life is really full of distractions and quotes serve as my light brightening up my way.

Tonight, as I was browsing the net, searching for yet another quote, I came across some quotes about wrestling. I used to enjoy watching wrestling matches; those real wrestling games and not the scripted ones. And I find the sports real hard, and when I came across quotes about it, I browsed it and found the most interesting ones...

"The art of living is more like that of wrestling than of dancing; the main thing is to stand firm and be ready for an unseen attack." - Marcus Aurelius Antonius

This is so true. Sometimes life gives you unexpected turns and blows, and when you're unprepared, you go rock bottom. I know that and I experienced being rock-bottom. It wasn't a pleasing time of my life and the sad fact was, I had to go through it more than twice before I finally learned my lesson.

But finally I did get it. (At Last!) and now, I don't let my guards down. I try to keep it waist high so that anytime something may happen... I am ready for it... I have enough time to raise up my arms and block all the punches of life.

And this brings me to another important fact of life. That you have to be strong, no matter what. You can get kicked and punched, but you still have to stay strong and keep on fighting. There are quotes on strength that I also came across but one really lingered on my mind:

"There are admirable potentialities in every human being. Believe in your strength and your truth. Learn to repeat endlessly to yourself. 'It all depends on me.'" - Andre Gide

It is nothing but plain reality. In life, you only got to rely on yourself. That is real strength. If you depend on anyone else, then that is your weakness. Depending on someone can leave you hanging by a thread knowing you can be safe or not. But if you depend on yourself alone, you know what you need to do. If your plan fails, so what? You have you to get back on track. And that independence is what makes a person the master of his or her own life.

  1. Life is full of surprised attacks. We were hit most of the time. There are times that you can't move or stand up because of the severity of it. All we have to do is wait for it to heal or do something to make the healing process faster and painless. In reality,if problems or hindrances came our ways, learn to fight, move on and learn from it.

  10. As life is pretty much unpredictable on each turn, we should prepare for the worse and hope for the best. ^_^

  11. Your words are empowering, and as I see it, you are in "only" in your 20's; I consider a precious gift to have insights that you have have in what is considered still a very young life.

I turned 40 this year, and not ashamed to admit it. :) I have to say, it took me only recently to learn what you already seem to have internalized.

I like stumbling on this post the way I did because it's like an angel sent me here to affirm stronger what I just recently learned, to internalize it the way I feel in your words, you do.

Wishing you continued success in finding wisdom in the words of others, as you spread the wisdom you learned yourself.

  19. Life is hard...that is reality. But living life becomes bearable...burdens become light, when you trust all your tomorrows to the ONE who holds eternity in His hands.
